Between the ages of 4 and 12 weeks, the puppy progressively loses the benefits of maternal immunity, transmitted through
the first milk (colostrum). Developing his own immunity as quickly as possible becomes a priority.
Like all large-breed puppies, the Labrador has a fragile digestive system which is still immature and of limited capacity. These factors prevent the Labrador puppy from assimilating high levels of protein or other vital nutrients, so a highly digestible diet is required. |
